Although spray foam is a cleaner option over fiberglass insulation, fiberglass is a great option for soundproofing interior walls.
It’s recommended that spray foam insulation is used for exterior walls to keep your home more cost efficient and clean. However, for interior walls that enclose noisy rooms such as a bathroom, a game room, or a music room, fiberglass can absorb sound pollution.
How it works: Simply put, fiberglass has proven to significantly eliminate middle to high frequencies (flushing toilets, shower water noise, dishes, etc.) by absorbing the sound. However, the denser the insulation, the more you will be able to eliminate low frequencies (humming from TVs, refrigerators, and air conditioners).
Spray foam insulation should be applied in as many areas as possible; however, fiberglass insulation is a great option for cancelling out noise when you’re in need of some quiet time.
