Taking a little extra time to implement some new practices into maintaining your home can save you some serious cash.
We know how much money goes into keeping your house at the right temperature. Our mission has always been to save you money with spray foam insulation, however today we want to talk about some other habits that could decrease your monthly heating bill.
- Use the number one heat source in the world – The Sun. You’d be surprised how much your home will heat up when you open the sunnyside curtains and shutters. If you’re home when the sun passes, close them to keep that warmth inside. This may sound tedious, but this little habit can warm your whole home without the use of any artificial heating devices.
- Heat specific rooms independently. You may find that it gets colder in your kitchen while you cook than when you’re under the covers sleeping at night. Using a space heater or a smart thermostat is one of the best ways to make a huge dent in that monthly bill.
- Invest in Insulation. We have to throw it in here! Insulation is by far the best way to save money on your heating bill. If you’ve read our blogs before you know the power of spray foam, so we’ll spare you the lecturing this time.
- Get a humidifier. Keeping your home’s air humid will help warm the interior and keep it from that awful dry cold air. Not only does a humidifier help with the humidity, but houseplants can as well!
